Interview with Peter Kam

Peter Kam is a versatile musician; his ranges of works vary from pop song writing, music arrangement and production to commercial jingle composing, drama and film music scoring. He has received numerous awards in different music categories. Regarding film music awards, he has not only been awarded several times in the Hong Kong Film Awards and Taiwan Golden Horse Film Awards, in 2006, he even made a breakthrough by winning the ‘Silver Bear – Best Film Music’ award with the movie ‘Isabella’ at the Berlin International Film Festival. In recent years, he has been invited to compose theme songs for major events of Hong Kong and the Mainland China such as ‘Just Because You Are Here’ (for HKSAR 10th Anniversary celebration in 2007), ‘We Are Ready’(for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games one-year countdown celebration), ‘You Are The Legend’ (for 2009 East Asian Games held in Hong Kong). In 2008 and 2010, he was awarded ‘Medal of Honor’ and ‘Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service’ from the HKSAR government respectively to recognize his contribution.
