Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Limited (CASH) was incorporated in Hong Kong on 23 September 1977 under the Companies Ordinance, as a Company Limited by Guarantee and not having a share capital. It began operation on 1 October 1977.

Sponsored by the CASH Music Fund and presented in collaboration for the first time with The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), the ‘CASH Composition Award 2023/24’ has been awarded to the following student from Creative Arts and Culture and Education (Music).
Chung King Yat is pursuing Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Arts and Culture and Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Music) (co-terminal double degree) and is currently a third-year student studying the saxophone under the guidance of Mr Martin Choy Kwok Tin, and also learning handbells and handbell conducting from Ms Wong Wai Ching, Ms Leung Lai Shee, and Ms Yeung Tsz Ting.
Chung is passionate about ensemble music and is currently a student conductor of the EdUHK Orchestra, as well as a student conductor and Vice-Chairman of the EdUHK handbell Ensemble. He is also a member of several music groups both within and outside the university. Chung actively participates in performances and operational matters and has assisted in organising multiple public performances over the past two years.

Sponsored by the CASH Music Fund, the ‘CASH Music Scholarship for Overseas Studies 2024/2025’ has been awarded to Lam Chun Hei. He will pursue Doctor of Philosophy in Music Composition at Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester.
Lam Chun Hei is an active composer and an enthusiast of contemporary music style. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music with first-class honours from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed his master’s studies in composition at Bowling Green State University. His goal is to explore and experiment on a wide array of sounds and timbre, especially with contemporary instrumental techniques and live electronics.
Winning multiple awards, his works were featured in various festivals and conferences, including June in Buffalo (USA), International Rostrum of Composers (2023: Netherlands), MUSLAB (2023: Ecuador), Nanhua University International Symposium of Contemporary Music Research (Taiwan), soundSCAPE Festival (Italy), Connecticut Summerfest (USA), SCI National Conference (USA), and the Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival (HK).
Groups such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Toledo Symphony, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Mivos Quartet, Del Sol Quartet, [Switch~ Ensemble], Mise-en Ensemble, Du.0, and Cong Quartet are among the many who presented Lam’s music over the years.

Jay Fung, AGA and Jocelyn Chan received Gold Award, Silver Award and Bronze Award respectively of the ‘CASH Best Singer-songwriter Award’ at the 45th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award. The award was co-presented by RTHK and CASH.

The activities on the third day of the music camp included a Band Workshop and a Music Copyright and Multi-media Music Creation Forum open to the public. Both the participants and the public actively engaged and interacted with the speakers, gaining valuable insights and experiences from the events.

Renowned composer Mak Chun Hung shares his rich experience in exploring the balance between AI music and traditional composition.
Terence Ng, Area Manager, Public Performance Licensing & Corporate Development (Education) of CASH shares music copyright knowledge and explains the basic concepts of music copyright.
The speakers engage in a dialogue, sharing their musical experiences and answering participants’ questions.
